How to edit your website from your smartphone (or tablet)

Note: This is handy especially for pictures and video.

3 Easy Steps. This is one-time setup.

Step 1: Install the App (free)

Intall and open the app on your device.

Step 2: Enable XML-RPC via a Browser.

Next, from a Browser (which can be on the device-browser, i.e. Safari on iPhone for example, or just use any computer) go to http://YOURBIZPHONE.swiftwebdesigner.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php

  • Username =  (your main phone, no dots, no – in most cases, 5551231234)
  • Password =  (your password you created)
Like this…

Once clicked, you’re done with blog-side-setup.

Step 3: In your Device-App: Click option 3, “Add a self-hosted WordPress blog”.

  • URL = http://YOURBIZPHONE.swiftwebdesigner.com
  • Username =  (your main phone, no dots, no – in most cases, 5551231234)
  • Password =  (your password you created)
  • I’d recommend turning geotagging on IF you are primarily alocal business i.e. restaurant, auto mechanic, etc. as it will help with local-seo (search engine optimization).

That’s it! I’ll let you play with it on your own. You should be able to take pictures and add them to a post, add pages and posts.

A note on video: YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world now, ahead of yahoo and bing, and because it’s so widely supported, plays on any device, and has traffic of its own, our official recommendation on all video is to upload video to youtube, then embed that into your website. It’s easy. You can see our post about automatic youtube syndication to set up your website so that every time you post a video to your youtube channel, our system will automatically create a post (not page, but a “post” i.e. blog entry) for that video, using the video itself and description and tags – so be sure the tags and description are accurate. Once you do this, then all the “seo juice”, traffic and backlinks, will flow back to your website.
